Moments of Eternity is a new triptych created for the fifth edition of Bron van Inspiratie, an exhibition initiated by Paard Verzameld in collaboration with De Paardenkamp.

For this exhibition, several horses of De Paardenkamp served as a source of inspiration for the participating artists. The project began with an inspiration day at De Paardenkamp, where artists were invited to spend time among the horses, make sketches, take photographs, and collect visual material as the basis for their work.

For me, this encounter became the starting point for an exploration of fleeting moments of perception: a touch, a glance, a movement, a presence. I was interested not only in the horses themselves, but in the way a brief moment can remain in memory after it has already passed.

In this triptych, realistic depictions of horses interact with fragmented spatial structures. The surrounding space appears to crystallize around the figure, transforming a passing moment into memory. Within this shifting environment, the horse becomes not simply a depicted animal, but a carrier of presence — a living trace within a moment that both appears and dissolves.

From inspiration to image

The first stage of the project was based on direct observation. During the inspiration day at De Paardenkamp, I collected material through photographs, sketches, and moments of quiet attention. I looked for gestures, expressions, and situations that carried a sense of presence beyond the immediate encounter.

Gradually, the idea of the triptych developed around three forms of fleeting experience: touch, glance, and moment. Each work reflects a different way in which a short encounter can become emotionally significant and continue to exist as memory.

The works are not documentary records of the visit. They are transformations of perception into image — fragments of real encounters restructured through light, space, and memory.

The triptych

The triptych consists of three individual works that can be viewed separately, yet together they form a single visual and emotional sequence.

Fleeting Touch focuses on contact and the quiet intensity of a brief physical connection.
Fleeting Glance reflects on the fragility of looking and the density of a passing visual encounter.
Fleeting Moment brings together stillness, memory, age, movement, and the awareness that certain moments cannot be repeated in exactly the same way.

Across all three works, space is not treated as a neutral background. It shifts, fractures, and crystallizes around the horse figures, suggesting the unstable structure of memory itself.

Exhibition context

This project was created for Bron van Inspiratie, the fifth anniversary edition of a continuing exhibition series connected with De Paardenkamp. The exhibition invited artists to respond to the horses, atmosphere, and stories of De Paardenkamp as a living source of inspiration.
